The Pain of Calvary

Apr 13, 2025    Shane Jenkins

Today, we delve into the profound depths of Christ's sacrifice on Calvary. The message centers on Matthew 27, vividly portraying the suffering Jesus endured for our redemption. We're reminded that His pain wasn't just physical, but emotional and spiritual too - rejected by men and forsaken by the Father. This sacrifice wasn't for His own wrongdoing, but for ours. The imagery of the scourging and crown of thorns serves as a stark reminder of the price paid for our sins. John the Baptist's proclamation, 'Behold the Lamb of God,' takes on new meaning as we understand Jesus as the final, perfect sacrifice. His death didn't just cover sin, but removed it entirely. As we approach Easter, let's not get caught up in the trappings, but truly reflect on the magnitude of Christ's love demonstrated at Calvary. This message challenges us to live with gratitude, thankfulness, and surrender, recognizing that our burdens of guilt and shame can be lifted through faith in Jesus.
